Position Summary: Social Media Specialist Job Description February 2021 The Social Media Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the company’s social media strategy in order to increase brand & product awareness, social followers and supplement marketing efforts to gain customer acquisition and sales. The position works closely with internal product managers and creative director. The position includes, but is not limited to the following key responsibilities and duties.
Position Details: ● Social Media Specialist is an exempt, salary position ● The position reports to the President and works closely with the creative director and other members of this small team. ● The Social Media Specialist will be expected to be available during general business hours Monday – Friday and after hours or weekends in special circumstances. Regular hours are to be kept at the company office, unless otherwise approved. ● A company laptop will be provided for use by the Social Media Specialist. ● The Social Media Specialist complies with all posted David Novak Leadership policies and procedures. ● This role may be 85% virtual for the right candidate. The right candidate must be in driving distance of Louisville, KY to attend face-to-face meetings as requested.
Key Responsibilities/Duties: (Includes, but not limited to...) ● Social Media Calendar and Content Development o Working with brand managers to align on social media objectives, KPI’s and strategy. o Develops and gains internal alignment on a monthly social media calendar that delivers on the brand strategy. o Creates engaging social media content (including blogs, podcasts, videos, etc.) by working with the brand creative director to generate new assets as needed. ● Implement and Monitor Social Media Plan o Implement the social media calendar with effective posts and on-going engagement across all 12 social accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), including the newly developed Facebook group o Work closely with company founder, David Novak, to provide guidance and recommendation on social posting for his individual platform o Monitor consumer comments and feedback and respond appropriately as needed. o Measure the success of every social media campaign and provide weekly report on social media KPI’s. o Develop continuous A/B testing and analysis to gauge effectiveness of content and optimize and recommend changes as needed. • Continuous Improvement o Ensure compliance with all social platform rules and norms. o Continue to monitor the social media landscape to adopt best practices to drive following and engagement. o Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to network and build know how. Podcast Communications ● Correspond with the teams of our podcast guests on how they will promote the podcast on their platforms. ● Develop podcast content for social media working with the creative director and podcast technician. ● Monitor our guests in the news to find relevant content to share on social media. ● Write promotional copy to share on social media. ● Run ads on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter when needed.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements: ● 2+ years of experience running social media for a brand or organization including content creation, implementation and monitoring. ● Excellent knowledge of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms - including how to keep up with platform trends and changes as they occur ● Competency with basic social media scheduling and analytic tools and methods. ● Graphic design skills preferred ● Excellent copywriting skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders. ● Detail-oriented multi-tasker with strong follow-up skills.
